The Staben House
is a transitional housing facility for homeless women with children
has a 16 bed capacity. Our facility provides programs that foster
self-sufficiency and independent living skills.
The Staben House
was the dream of Waukegan Township CEO and Supervisor, Patricia
Jones. She wanted to provide a safe haven for children who
were homeless. Through the help of City leaders, Church
leaders, and countless hours provided by community volunteers,
Ms Jones's dream became a reality on August 11, 1997, when the
Staben House opened its doors and accepted its first family.
Since its inception
the Staben House has operated at capacity levels.
Homeless women with children are becoming empowered by finding
employment, housing and receiving educational and vocational
training.
