Patricia Jones
Township Supervisor

Patricia Jones is distinguished by over thirty years of outstanding public service to the citizens of Lake County. She is an elected official of Waukegan Township were she holds the position of Supervisor and Chief Executive Officer. Appointed Waukegan Township Supervisor in 1993 and was elected in 1997. Prior to her appointment she worked as the Township Administrator 1985 – 1993 and Director of General Assistance 1977-1985.

The Township is a multi-million dollar governmental entity responsible for the care and well being of township constitutions. Under her leadership, Waukegan Township has grown to be considered one of the premier townships in the State of Illinois. Her vision to bring light to the least of these has played an integral role in the creation of the Park Place Center, Eddie Washington Center Transitional House for Men and Staben House Transitional House for Women with Children, Liberty Bell Awardees Coalition to Reduce Recidivism. These are just a few shining examples of Ms. Jones' influential impact on Lake County community services and intergovernmental relations.

Supervisor Jones also is highly regarded for her relentless pursuit of educational opportunities for the citizens of Lake County. She held the position of Trustee, an elected official, to the College of Lake County Board and is now Trustee Emeritus of the College of Lake County Board. Prior to that she served on the Advisory Committee for the College of Lake County's Lakeshore Campus and the University Center of Lake County Advisory Board.

Supervisor Jones has been a prominent member of numerous Boards and organizations including the United Way of Lake County, the Heart Association of Lake County, the Waukegan and North Chicago Exchange Club, the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, and the Northern Lake County YMCA.

Just to name a few, she has gained recognition by the YWCA-Women of Achievement Award, the Girl Scouts of America-Women of Achievement Award, the Most Influential African American in Lake County Award, the Humanitarian Award form Chi Eta Phi Sorority Inc., Nu Phi Chapter of Waukegan, the Special Recognition Award from Catholic Charities, and the Gail Svendsen Award from the Academy of Hospitality & Tourism Program. She was also inducted in the University of Illinois Extension Hall of Fame.

Notwithstanding, her distinguished career, Supervisor Jones states, "My family including my late father, Mr. Leroy Jones; my mother, Mrs. Dorothy Armsted, my son, Marc Jones and grandchildren are the people who stand behind me with an awesome and unconditional love. They keep my life focused; God Centered and they are symbols on my rich and wonderful African American heritage"
