Shout-out to Tyrone Harris & Family and the Waukegan High School Class of 1982 for their great work organizing and financing the beautification of our patio. Thanks also to Ronald Bond, Class of 1980! Thank you very much for the umbrellas, table, and garden decorations that make Staben House more welcoming for our residents.
In an effort to better serve our residents and visitors, the Staben House is proud to announce that our renovation project is now complete! We are excited to present a new roof, updated bathrooms, and a new driveway to complete the 93-year-old structure’s facelift; as well as the new playground where the ribbon-cutting ceremony took place this year to delight Staben House children for decades.
The House was built in 1930 for Dr. Robert Smith a native of Barbados who later became Chief of Staff at St. Therese Medical Center. In 1963 the House was sold to Dr. DeLong another prominent physician at St. Therese. He converted the rear of the house into treatment rooms. (view photos taken from original Staben House renovation)
