Fun and excitement were in the air on Saturday, September 9th for the Annual Walk for Seniors event themed; Rock ‘n Stroll – Vol 2. This year’s event furthered the Waukegan Township’s goal to offer programs that benefit the population 55 and better. The Walk for Seniors event included a host of fun-filled activities for everyone, i.e., Bouncy House, Face Painting, T-shirts, Medals, Lunch to participants, Entertainment by the Greg Rockingham Band, and the 1st Annual Walk for Seniors Car and Bike Show. Congratulations to the winners of the WFS Team Challenge for the 2nd year in a row…Waukegan Bible Baptist Church!
The 18th Annual Golf Outing benefiting the Staben House and Eddie Washington Center; is in the books and what a great day it was! Once the clouds went away, we could not have asked for more perfect weather, the sun came out of hiding and shone on all the golfers that day at Foss Park Golf Course. As always, we had the best group of participants, sponsors, and staff.
We would like to thank all of you for your support in making this years’ Annual Golf Outing a success! There were so many fun times shared, relationships formed, and unforgettable memories made. Thank you again and we can’t wait until next year, hope to see you there! Please preview photos taken from the golfing event; some courtesy of golfer, Bruce Brown.
The Patrica A. Jones Center sure does know how to party, Polynesian style! We hosted a fun Hawaiian Luau Party on Friday, August 18th, complete with festive decorations, grass skirts and tropical-colored leis and tables full of tasty food, coinciding with the Hawaiian Islands-theme. There was great entertainment from Aloha Chicago Ent. who kept their promise to deliver an authentic Hawaiian Luau for everyone to enjoy, as well as authentic island dance instructed and led by the Polynesian Revue. By the looks of the photos, the Patricia A. Jones Center was more than successful in bringing the spirit of Islands to Lake County for guests to enjoy their own "Hawaiian Luau" experience!
It takes a village...We Are the Village! On behalf of Supervisor Marc L. Jones, we want to thank everyone that came out to help us celebrate the 10th anniversary of the ARTIS YANCEY HBCU TOUR on Friday, August 25th. For 10 years, Waukegan Township has promoted, encouraged, and introduced students to the options and opportunities Historically Black Colleges and Universities provide, and as a supporter of this type of fundraising event, you help us raise funds for the Artis Yancey Tour each year.

Perhaps the most meaningful and impactful act is to give. Whether time, attention, or otherwise, the act of giving – as proclaimed by John D. Rockefeller, Jr. – should be considered not as a duty, but a privilege.
For the Waukegan Township family, providing quality programs and services to the community is just that – a great privilege. So much so, we are now very proud to present the newly developed 501c3 - Growth Impact Visibility & Expansion Services for Waukegan (G.I.V.E.)
GROWTH – the process of increasing in physical size/area
IMPACT – to have a strong effect on someone or something
VISIBILITY – the degree to which something has attracted general attention; prominence
EXPANSION – the act of increasing in size, volume, quantity or scope
This non-profit is designed to support, promote, and provide resources to assist residents of the Greater Waukegan area who find themselves unable to navigate through the effects of poverty, disability, incarceration, or advanced age, allowing us to provide even more for those who are unable to provide for themselves.
Social media is, for most, a part of our daily existence in some way or another. Waukegan Township’s social media footprint has been solidified on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter and now, we encourage you to catch up with the WT happenings on our newly created YouTube channel! Now, those who are unable to attend our in-person events don’t have to miss a moment of excitement. Don’t forget to like, share and subscribe!
We’re excited about what this year will bring and hope you are as well. Don’t forget to G.I.V.E. for 2023!
