Who is the Waukegan Township Supervisor?
Patricia Jones, M Ed. is the Waukegan Township Supervisor. Patricia Jones is distinguished by over thirty years of outstanding public service to the citizens of Lake County. She is an elected official of Waukegan Township where she holds the position of Supervisor and Chief Executive Officer. She was elected in 1997 and prior to that, worked as Waukegan Township Administrator for 8 years. Patricia holds a BA from Western Illinois University and an M. Ed from Northern Illinois University.
Who are the other elected officials of Waukegan Township?
The Township Board, comprised of four Trustees and the Supervisor, is the policy-making body of Waukegan Township. In addition, the township board consists of the Township Assessor, Highway Commissioner, and the Township Clerk.

What is Park Place?
Park Place Senior Center was started in 1992 by then Township Supervisor Milton Staben as an Intergovernmental project between the Park District, the City of Waukegan, and Waukegan Township. Since then Park Place has grown to serve more than 3,000 senior citizens each month with vital services. Park Place is designed for those 55 year of age or older to enjoy the many activities, services and programs offered at Park Place.

How do Taxi-Cab tickets work?
Taxi-Cab tickets are for those 55 years of age or older who reside within Waukegan Township. 18 Taxi tickets are permitted per person per calendar ninth. Taxi tickets must be requested by phone if resident is not on the Waukegan Township automatic mailing list. Tickets are non-transferable and are to be used ONLY by the person whose name appear on the ticket. Taxi tickets are not to be used by spouses, children, grandchildren, or other relatives or friends. Under no circumstance are tickets to be bought sold, traded or used as currency for anything other than transportation. Any abuse or misuse of tickets will result in suspension from the program. What is the Benefit Access Program?
The Department on Aging’s Benefit Access Program, formerly known as the Circuit Breaker, allows for the Secretary of State’s office to provide for a reduced-fee license plates or/and the free or reduce fee RTA card. This program is for those ages 65 and over, and persons with disabilities within certain income guidelines. You may apply for this program online or with assistance from Park Place staff.
What is Home Sweet Home?
The Waukegan Township’s Home Sweet Home program provides lawn maintenance and snow removal services, free of charge, to Waukegan Township citizens; age 55 or better. Please call our hotline to register and receive your complimentary lawn care and snow removal services.
Who can participate in our complimentary exercise classes?
Park Place exercise program is open to any Waukegan Township resident 55 year of age or older. Resident must complete a registration form and get authorization from their physician to participate in any Waukegan Township exercise programs. Registration forms are good for one physical year.
What kind of transportation do you provide?
Many of our communities’ older adults are unable to access transportation for several reasons. Some can no longer drive safely. Others can no longer afford to maintain car and insurance payments. Sometimes the person is temporarily unable to drive due to surgery or illness. Whatever the reason, losing the ability to drive becomes a barrier to receiving vital services such doctors visits, grocery shopping and medication pickup. Day to day activities normally managed on their own, like going to a doctor or grocery shopping all become impossible. Waukegan Township Park Place Transportation Service offers several programs for Township residents who are 55 and better.
Park Place provides complimentary medical transportation to seniors 55+ to doctors, dentist, prescription pick-ups and nursing homes.
This program will provide a vital lifeline for people who are Seniors (60+) and disabled residents (16+) to access employment, education, healthcare, and community life.
Park Place provides complimentary grocery shopping shuttle service to seniors 55+.

The purpose of the SCSC is to assist in development and administrant of programs designed to maintain self-sufficiency and enhance the quality of life of citizens residing with Waukegan Township who are 55 years of age or older.

What is Senior Health Insurance Program (SHIP)?
SHIP is a complimentary health insurance counseling service for Medicare beneficiaries and their caregivers. Our SHIP counselors assist with finding information and resources about Medicare, Medicare Supplemental Insurance, Medicare Advantage Plans, Part D Drug coverage, claims appeal, and Medicaid.
Who can participate on our trips?
Any adult can participate in our trips. Children accompanied by an adult are welcome on certain excursions.

Does Park Place offer Notary Republic or Voters Registration services?
Waukegan Township provides free notary services and voters registration at the following sites: Waukegan Township Supervisor’s Office, Park Place Center, and Eddie Washington Center.
